The Pam Project

with Salon Thrive Santee

Being a mom was the most rewarding, wonderful and difficult “thing” I ever did. I loved it, and now love grandparenting. When I heard about this project I knew I had to be a part of it-it’s really something special. Let me tell you about some really special people that had an idea to bless, and allowed others like me join them (Salon Thrive) in a wonderful gift that myself, TeamKia, Haizel Paige Boutique, Fifty-Two Eatery (Santee), Allison Story Nails could all be a part of to give someone in our community.

The Pam Project is the brainchild of Katie & Curtis Anderson, owners of Salon Thrive (both Santee & El Cajon). I have known Katie Anderson for a while, she is my go-to person for hair & makeup for my clients. When I first heard about The Pam Project, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It’s filled with so many principles I believe in and really, it is also at the core of my business.

So what is the Pam Project – Curtis grew up with a super star single mom, sometimes going to school at night and working all day with four kids. Now having two kids of his own he realizes how difficult parenting is and he is convinced  that moms are the most selfless people on the planet. So in honor of his mom, they created the Pam Project.

The Pam Project is a nomination process for a deserving mom to win a FREE day at the Salon to have her hair and makeup done by Salon Thrive. Get her nails done by Allison Story Nails. Then off to pick out an outfit of her choice at Hazel Paige Boutique, then from there head on over to FIFTY-TWO EAST Eatery with reservations & dinner for two. The winner will also be provided $400 worth of services or $500 towards a new car from TEAMKia of El Cajon. She will also receive a portrait of her transformation to remember the day from Cindie Wolf Photography.
If you’d like to nominate a mom head on over to Salonthrive.com and nominate a mom. They will be picking a new winner every quarter.

It was special for me to be there photographing the Before & After of the Pam Project’s First Winner – Brianna Thompson! We hung out and of course she told me how she wasn’t photogenic and that she hated to have her photograph taken. Since I have heard this before (lol) we played around and you can see that Brianna is not only very photogenic, she is incredibly beautiful. The video shows a number of photographs along with a before and after. I wanted to not only produce something special for Brianna, but also for the other companies, especially Salon Thrive that they could use for marketing what they do.

My set up for the day

Every company has a Brand. Every Brand has a story. This story shows the heart of the business, what the business celebrates, the products & services it provides and what it values. For Salon Thrive, I identified what was valued, then determined what process would be used to highlight those values. I don’t just take pictures I create images. This imagery highlights the heart of the business using the hi-end, high resolution images that equal the quality of the crafted products and services of the Brand. This is a service I provide for businesses looking to have their Brand story highlighted and told. #storyteller

Congratulations Brianna Thompson 2019 The Pam Project Winner. You’re amazing!

East County Chamber of Commerce Headshot Day | Putting Your Best Face Forward | Cindie Wolf Photography

In an age of doing business with people we know and people we see, a headshot is your digital identity, literally the face of your brand, no matter what brand name you have because people do business with people they know. Anyone that is entrepreneurial understands they need a headshot, even if it’s just going to go on LinkedIn. But think about it, when you’re searching on LinkedIn, how awkward is it when there is a listing of a professional without a photograph? Professional Photographs add to your digital identity and make you look, professional. It says doing business with you is working with a professional that understands what it takes and costs to be professional. These are perfect for networking and making you stand out from your competition.

As a member of the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce, the Membership Director and I set up a Headshot Day to photograph the Chamber’s new staff members, new board members, along with a few others needing to upgrade their professional imagery. In the next few weeks I’ll be highlighting different people that attended to introduce you and provide a chance for you to meet them. What I want to reveal to you is the quality of people we have right here in our own community. You’ll be able to learn about them and how they volunteer their time and expertise to make our community a better place for all. I’ve always heard it said that “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” and all of these contribute by what they do. At the SDECChamber, like other Chambers of Commerce, we are a group of Volunteers that come together to work towards bettering our community. We take pride in what we do and in our community. You’ll enjoy learning a little bit about them.

Seven Reasons To Get A Professional Headshot | San Diego Photographer | Cindie Wolf Photography

threeheadshots linkedin

A picture is worth a thousand words, so it’s been said. But on social media sites like LinkedIn, statistics from LinkedIn show members how including a photo receive up to 21 times more profile views and up to 36 times more messages.

These days, you are your own Brand and considering your personal branding, it’s a small investment of both money and time to get new headshots done. Especially important is making sure you look like you when meeting new clients or contacts somewhere like a crowded coffee house or after-hours location. It’s something I recommend doing at least once a year. After all, we change over time; women especially with things like haircuts and color. If it’s been a few years, you don’t want to find out the hard way; it can be embarrassing to show up at a meeting where someone has checked you out using your professional image on LinkedIn, only to discover that the image you used was about 10-15 years old. Ouch!

As much as it hurts to leave the younger you behind, here are six reasons to keep in mind when updating your LinkedIn profile pic.

  1. Why do professionals need a set of headshots?

Our digital identity is our new calling card, even on business cards. It puts a face with a name and how you portray yourself will assist you in getting noticed. A headshot is part of your personal branding identity.

  1. How often you should get new headshots?

You should refresh your headshot every year or for major changes. You should also have different images of you for different things. When someone changes their profile picture on social media, it usually gets the most likes out of anything they posted that year. The people on these platforms follow you and they want to see you looking good.

  1. You should look like you.

If you wear glasses and a suit to work, you should be wearing glasses and a suit for your headshot. LinkedIn is the place where you want to be seen for who you are at work and provide an idea of the type of work you do.

  1. What if you want casual images to be used on your personal Facebook page or in a LinkedIn story behind the scenes?

Make sure to ask your photographer if there is an additional charge for a change of outfit. Then bring along the type of clothing that will show who you are on your days off. If you need help with wardrobe, just ask the photographer you are working with. Most are very helpful with identifying colors that look best on you as well as outfits that “speak” what you are trying to show. Keep in mind you are always wanting to show the “best you”, so make sure to step it up.

  1. No Selfies Allowed

LinkedIn is a professional sight. You wouldn’t want to represent with less than a professional image unless you want to say something about yourself that is out of character with your qualifications. After all, if you are a Financial Planner and your image is a selfie, what does that say to your target client about you? Think about it!

Your photographer will suggest different backgrounds and lighting to bring out the best in you and fulfill your needs.

  1. How do I know what type of headshot?

If your company is asking for this, more than likely they have guidelines to how they want your headshot to look. Some professions prefer everyone on a black background, while others want friendly and approachable on light backgrounds. It never hurts to ask your HR department if there is a preference or company guidelines.

As with anything on LinkedIn, make sure your position and industry are current, as listing these can help you connect to jobs, content and groups you may be interested in. Even by listing location, it can help you be discovered up to 23x more in searches by alumni, recruiters, former colleagues and others, according to LinkedIn.

Dance Is A Poem; Photographing Ballet Dancers | Cindie Wolf San Diego Portrait Portrait Photographer

Dance is a poem of which each movement is a word. -Mata Hari

Recently I was at a workshop with Professional Photographers of San Diego County where we had the opportunity to photograph two women from the California Ballet. Ana and Tess are both amazing athletes and both very easy and fun to work with. I love posing people and I found great joy in asking the dancers to slowly move from one step into another to photograph their movements. Watching their physical strength and control was so beautiful. Here are some of the images I created from my time with them. I say created because I was able to play with the images, I changed skies, backgrounds, played with paint added textures and stuff like that. I hope you enjoy the images.

A Work Of Heart: Gail & Ally for St. Madeline Sophie’s Center

Allie_Gail_Future_101216_0008wI had an amazing opportunity to use my portrait skills to assist the messaging of St. Madeline Sophie’s Center, a facility of heart, serving adults with developmental disabilities. It was their 50th Anniversary!

If you know me, you know I am passionate about capturing the authentic person using my camera, and even more passionate about photographing relationships. On this special day, I was asked to photograph Gail and her daughter Ally. I adore mother and daughter relationships, as I have daughters.

Being a mother-daughter portrait, I suggested that prior to coming, they make a memory and go have professional hair, makeup, and nails done. What a fun day and a wonderful memory for them together! They came in looking their best!

Both Gail and Ally are both absolutely beautiful inside and out! What I learned in photographing them is that Ally has no strangers in her life, just friends she hasn’t met yet. She is outgoing, concerned for everyone, tenderhearted and so very inquisitive. She is an artist and St. Mad’s (as they are loving known as) provides her the ability to use her great artistic abilities.

Gail her mom is a mix of elegance and grace. I loved capturing them together, how they giggled, laughed and were inquisitive with their surroundings. Such grace and such love Gail has for her daughter, I caught myself tearing up a few times.  We wandered around the beautiful gardens of St. Mad’s and into their vineyard, where they explored all the living beauty around them and I watched them have fun together!Allie_Gail_Future_101216_0095w It was wonderful to be a part of. 🙂 Thank you to St. Mad’s for calling on me!

I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with love, laughter, and crazy chaotic family fun!
